hey tat wai, if u wanna get rid of thes showiness, u can actually. One doesn't need to style his hair or wear ankle socks to be cool. After readin ur post 2 posts before this, i realised that i'm guilty of what u r as well: doing things to show off instead of really for God. I'm guilty of what you are, so i probably have not much right to say anything though.
After reading them, i've decided to share with u a sermon i heard in my church earlier. I was just reviewing it last night.
The pastor talked about sacrifice for God, doing things for God. The were many sacrifices of fools, and one of them, the key one, is the sacrifice of showmanship.
SACRIFICE OF SHOWMANSHIP -Service/Worship for people to see Mark 12:38-40 -Giving for people to see Matt 6:2-4 -Praying for people to see Matt 6:5-6 -Fasting for people to see Matt 6:16-18
This are the four things that people do to show others that they are worshipping God. However, although we do these four things as Christians, we should do it with a prayerful heart, not with a heart that only longa to show off to others.

Humility, dude. Do it out of humility! When u do it that way, u give God glory. In everything that u do, do it for His glory for that is our purpose in life. There is no glory in our "showmanship" instead everytihng; in our prayer, giving, serving and fast, we should do it in such a way that God gets all the glory. God always opposes the proud, but will always give grace to the humble.
Dun feel bad anymore! Pray, repent and obey today! There are no chains too big that God can't take away. Sometimes that chain is only a thread, but we freaked out until it rendered us useless.
So be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, bro!
